My Thanksgiving Day Fashion + Food Plan: 3 Steps to curb overindulging that work!
Think your fashion choices affect your food & lifestyle choices? They sure do.
I’ll admit I really like to eat.
No- actually I love to eat.
But, I also like to feel good in my clothes, comfortable in my skin, and congruent with the choices I make.
It’s true- when it comes to food- you can have too much of a good thing.
Take Thanksgiving.
In just a few days, most of America will sit down to a no-holds-barred, eat-your-face off foodfest. Nice.
I want to help you to celebrate the foodfest and still feel fabulous in your clothes afterward. Don’t you believe you deserve that?
I believe this year can be different if you want it to be. No more wearing the elastic waistband pants and jumping back into that vapid holiday weight-gain/ weight loathing cycle again. It’s time to draw the line!
Has this ever happened to you too? You approach the T-day festivities with good intention:
- gratitude for the food, family, and the day
- vowing not to overindulge, leaving you bloated and hating yourself
- promising yourself to pay attention to your internal cues
- Then you get going, and 2nds, even 3rds later, you’re completely stuffed. Your clothing feels like its cutting off your circulation (gulp).
You’re uncomfortable and now you’re ticked at yourself. You did exactly what you told yourself you weren’t going to do.
Now your self-esteem is in the tank and having yet another slice of pie sounds like a great idea!
I KNOW how shitty that feels. I’ve done it too.
Not again. Not this year. I’ve got my outfit picked out and I’m ready to celebrate the day and myself.
The Plan
#1 Mindset. Check yourself girl. It starts with the understanding that you can change this pattern. When you take control of your thinking, the actions will take care of themselves. This year I want to help you see how your fashion choices do affect your food choices.#2 get dressed! How you dress is powerful stuff. It affects your attitude about yourself for the rest of the day. (and even other people’s attitudes toward you too!)
#3 Wear something with a waist- a button, zipper, or a belt to define and claim your space.
Stay away from the elastic waistband!
When you wear something you love, you feel like a million bucks, and you are more likely to treat yourself like the highly valued million-dollar woman you are, from how you eat and think, to how you speak and hold yourself. It’s all driven by your attitude, a state of mind.
I know you’ve experienced this same type of visceral response when you’re wearing clothing that feels good on your skin, and that allow you to shine from the inside out. It encourages more healthy and life-giving lifestyle habits. It says ‘I value myself enough to treat myself well.’
When you sit down at the table this year, looking and feeling your best, enjoy yourself. Eat good food. When you’ve had enough, your waistband will remind you of that, and how good it feels to honor yourself, indulging in just enough food to feed the senses and invoke the pleasure of the day.Enjoy.
Celebrate.
Be grateful. For you, I am grateful beyond words. Thank you for being here with me, reading, and following today and everyday!
