DAIKON RADISH IMMUNITY TEA
CHEST COLD LOW DOWN: Recently I came down with an intense chest cold. What’s a girl to do? It was bad. Not even my favorite outfit or bronzing powder could fake my body into feeling better. I checked in with my good friend and healthy foodie coach Chassie Bell with Forkin Healthy, who is totally in the know when it comes to medicinal cooking and eating (and anything else healthy cooking you would ever need!)
She swears by Daikon radish tea. Wh-What??? Even I, healthy nut that I am, have never used this, nor could I even identify it from the many root vegetables on my local Coop shelves. I was skeptical but I stuck with it! Daikon radish can improve immunity and break up chest congestion like a charm.
Ingredients:
few cups water
turmeric, ground cloves, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, pinch sea salt (as much as you like!)
Optional: minces garlic, ghee or organic butter, liquid stevia, honey
Using a peeler, have a dozen+ slices of daikon radish (or cutting with a knife). On the stovetop, add a few cups of water to the shaved daikon radish root, add spices and bring to a boil. Strain and sip! ENJOY!!
Options: Since I love sweet everything, I add a few drops of liquid stevia. For the ultimate indulgence, add smidge of ghee or organic butter (and when you’re sick, you deserve to have a little pleasure.)
